Jim Auchmutey, another veteran journalist who took a buyout, said the move was probably not traumatic for his former colleagues in comparison to losing more than half the staff. But he himself found it difficult. “It meant something to me that I was walking right past Henry Grady’s statue,” Mr. Auchmutey said. “It meant something to me that we had been down there since the Civil War. I could feel all those ghosts. I know there’s history in Dunwoody, too, but it’s not the history of this newspaper.
